Correspondence, writings, biographical material, Hungarian legal documents, immigration papers, notebooks, musical compositions, newspaper clippings, printed matter, photographs, and other papers chiefly relating to Szent-Györgyi's work at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, Mass. Documents his research on muscle contraction and directorship of the Institute for Muscle Research, work as scientific director of the National Foundation for Cancer Research, and research on vitamin C. Includes typewritten drafts of his book, The Crazy Ape (1970); unpublished work, The Sick Ape; and writings in opposition to the Vietnam War.

Hungarian-born biochemist. Winner of the 1937 Nobel Prize in medicine and physiology for the isolation and synthesis of vitamin C. Emigrated to the United States in 1947.
