Honervogt's reworking(?) of engravings by Jan and Raphael Sadeler and Adriaen (and possibly Jan) Collaert (last group) after paintings by Maarten de Vos. For this edition, plates appear to have been trimmed; some images are reversed, some captions switched; a few images may be reprintings from trimmed but otherwise unaltered original plates. Cf. Sadeler's Trophaeum vitae solitariae, Venice, 1598, LCCN 25-2646, and Oraculum anachoreticum, Venice, 1600, LCCN 25-2645.

Captions in Latin.

Each part has engraved t.p. No general t.p.

Some plates signed: I. Honeruog ex[cudit]; I. Honervogt ex; Iac. Honeruog ex; Iollain excudit. Plate 6 in last group signed: M. de Vos inven[i]t, Iollain ex[cudit].

"Ces cinq articles forment la collection des Pères du désert, gravés par les frères Sadeler et Adrien Collaert, mais sans texte; on ne les trouve pas souvent réunis"--Brunet; Graesse.
