Among the "prominent men" included are Henry Ward Beecher, William Lloyd Garrison, Horace Greeley, Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Samuel J. May, Theodore Parker, Wendell Phillips, Gerrit Smith, William H. Channing, the Ohio Senate, and the Wisconsin legislature.
