(Critical) This two part program is an overview of the kidney. The homeostatic function of the kidney and hemodynamic, neural and endocrine aspects are presented in Part I. Nephron function is compared in normal and altered physiologic conditions. In Part II, clinical tests for the evaluation of renal function are detailed. This is a clear, concise discussion which is excellently and innovatively illustrated. Disease states affecting normal renal function and laboratory determinations are only minimally mentioned. This inulin clearance study is omitted. This program contains a large amount of information and previous knowledge of renal physiology, anatomy and function is required. This is an excellent review of the topic and is highly recommended for use.
