  <abstract>Correspondence, journals, writings, notes, clippings, photographs, and ephemera relating primarily to Anable's activities in the 1930s as research associate on the New York Zoological Society's oceanographic expeditions with William Beebe.  Journals include Anable's ichthyological notes, ships' logs, comments on expedition personnel and the bathysphere, and other observations from expeditions in Bermuda, the West Indies, and the Pearl Islands.  Also contains material related to her travels into the interior of British Guiana (later Guyana) for the New York Zoological Society in 1936 and to her work with the Mianus River Gorge Wildlife Refuge and Botanical Preserve in New York.</abstract>
