In the account, written in 1915, Pierce describes the candidates' opinions, physical appearances, speaking styles, the Missouri Compromise, and slavery. He also mentions viewing Lincoln's body lying in state in New York City Hall. Includes a typewritten transcript and a printed copy of Lincoln's speech as well as biographical information concerning Pierce.
