Va.) described trip from Conn. to Harpers Ferry; ALS (1861 September 1; Darnestown, Md.) discussed camp life, health conditions of soldiers, and being under the command of Gen. Nathaniel Prentiss Banks (letter is incomplete); ALS (1861 December 14; near Frederick, Md.) mentioned camp life and blankets sent by his mother; ALS (1861 December 21; Clear Springs, Md.) recounted a fight near Williamsport, Md. and the plans to march to Hancock, Md.
