Documents his service with the U.S. Army Twenty-first Infantry Regiment, 1886-1891, and with the Eighteenth Infantry Regiment, 1892-1919. Includes his description of military life and surroundings while based in forts in Wyoming and Texas and later in the Philippines during the insurrection of 1899-1901.
