Correspondence, memoranda, speeches, treaties, writings, maps, and other papers relating chiefly to Schneider's service as personal aide to Gen. John J. Pershing, commander-in-chief of the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during and after World War I. Includes fragments of Pershing's diary (1921-1922) edited by Schneider; maps of the Meuse-Argonne and St. Mihiel campaigns and other French sites on the Western Front during World War I; correspondence between Schneider and David A. Shepherd relating to drafting Pershing for the 1924 Democratic presidential nomination; and material relating to the schooling of Pershing's son, Warren. Other correspondents include George E. Adamson, George C. Marshall, and John G. Quekemeyer.
