Documents the founding of the Nippon Jindo Kai (Japan Humane Society), Burnett's work with the Nippon Renmei Shonendan (Boy Scouts of Japan), social life in Tokyo and at the Imperial Court, and her general interest in furthering relations between the U.S. and Japan.  Correspondents include Kentarō Kaneko, Yasumichi Katō, Takeko Kujō, Nobuaki Makino, Miyoko Saitō (wife of Japanese ambassador to the U.S., Hiroshi Saitō), and Eiichi Shibusawa.</abstract>
