Diary kept by John Warren Williams reflects his commercial interests especially the importation of flour. Documents the arrival and clearance of ships and their cargoes at Boston, Mass., and New York, N.Y. Also notes the arrival of the steamship Great Western in New York, N.Y., on May 3, 1840, with passengers including dancer Fanny Elssler. Includes an account book (1864-1882) kept by his brother, George F. Williams, and a journal of George's wife, Martha Ann Tilton Williams, describing travels to Europe, 1894-1895.
