Also includes correspondence and other papers of his brother, Lemuel Pope, who served in the U.S. Navy during the Civil War. A bound volume contains letters and signatures of presidents, senators, army and navy officers, governors, literary figures, scientists, clergyman, mayors, and others from the 1860s including Louis Agassiz, James Buchanan, Millard Fillmore, James A.
