  <abstract>Correspondence, speeches, writings including Sayre's autobiography, official reports and communications, printed matter, memorabilia, and other papers relating to Sayre's diplomatic career and his role as a spokesman for Christianity and the Episcopal Church.  Documents his service as U.S. assistant secretary of state, diplomatic advisor to United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, president of the United Nations Trusteeship Council, U.S. high commissioner to the Philippines, and advisor to and envoy from Thailand.  Includes reading copy of Woodrow Wilson's Fourteen Points message to Congress and other papers pertaining to Wilson; papers relating to the foreign trade policies of the first two presidential administrations of Franklin D. Roosevelt; materials concerning World War II in the Pacific Area, especially the Philippines; and memoranda of conversation and correspondence with Japanese diplomats.  Subjects relating to the Philippines include defense preparations, internees and prisoners of war, conditions on Corregidor Island, Philippine independence, Manuel Luis Quezon, and collaborators.  Also includes a Civil War letterbook of Union Army officer Wilberforce Nevin.</abstract>
