Papers of Eugenio María de Hostos include correspondence, a diary, writings, printed matter, photographs, and other papers relating chiefly to his work as a Puerto Rican nationalist dedicated to an independent Puerto Rico, first from Spain and later from the U.S., and to the formation of a union of Antillean states to include Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Dominican Republic. Papers of his son, Eugenio Carlos de Hostos, include correspondence, writings, family papers, printed matter, photographs, and other papers pertaining chiefly to his father's life, the Hostos family, Eugenio Carlos's service in the Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry, later the U.S. Army 65th infantry regiment, and the family estate in Sotomayor, Pontevedra, Spain. Correspondents include Ramón Emeterio Betances, Juan Bosch, Federico Henríquez i Carvajal, Gregorio Luperón, and Luis Muñoz Rivera.
