Correspondence, writings, reports, minutes of meetings, research files, and printed matter relating to Bernfeld's career as a psychoanalyst in Europe and America and to the study of Sigmund Freud carried on by Bernfeld and his wife, Suzanne Casirer Bernfeld. Subjects include the history of psychology and of the psychoanalytic movement; standards for the training of psychoanalysts; psychoanalytic theory; cross-disciplinary studies concerning behavior, consciousness, topology, and the mathematical expression of theoretical concepts; educational reform; and socialism or Marxism. Documents Bernfeld's involvement in a movement among Jewish youth in the early twentieth century and in the Wiener Psychoanalytische Vereinigung and the San Francisco Psychoanalytic Group.
